One glaring flaw still haunts the Avalanche after Friday's 3-2 win over the Jets

Tight game at Ball Arena Friday turned into another gritty Colorado Avalanche win, as Brent Burns, Martin Necas and Parker Kelly each scored in a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets that keeps the Avs' home dominance rolling.

Colorado's depth showed up in key moments, with contributions outside the top line making the difference.
Burns opened the scoring when his shot was deflected through traffic for his fifth of the season, giving the Avs an early lead. Necas followed before the first period ended, burying a Nathan MacKinnon setup to push the score to 2-0.

Avalanche escape with a win, but one glaring flaw refuses to go away.

Jackie Kay from Mile High Hockey writes that Winnipeg grabbed life late in the second with a shorthanded goal from Morgan Barron, catching Colorado's power play off guard. The Jets struck again early in the third on a Mark Scheifele power-play tally that made it a one-goal game.

Kelly's third-period goal ended up as the eventual game-winner, redirecting a Josh Manson shot past Connor Hellebuyck to make it 3-1. The Jets pressed in the final stretch, but Scott Wedgewood's 20 saves held firm.
There were tense moments late, including a waived-off Avalanche goal due to a high stick, but Colorado weathered the push and sealed the 3-2 victory.
From a broader view, this win extends Colorado's home streak to 12 straight victories at Ball Arena, the second-longest in franchise history, and keeps alive their strong position in the Central Division race.
Special teams again raised questions. The Avalanche power play, though gifted multiple opportunities, failed to convert at a consistent rate. That lapse contributed directly to the Jets' shorthanded goal and kept the outcome tighter than most expected.
The Avs will look to carry this momentum into a Sunday matchup with the Minnesota Wild, a key divisional test coming off this win.
