The Dallas Stars have made plenty of headlines with their trades, most recently acquiring Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche, and they could be planning another blockbuster to challenge Colorado this spring.

Some big names are on the trade block, like Alex Tuch, Kiefer Sherwood and Nazem Kadri, that could all help the Stars out in a big way.

The Dallas Stars could be loading up for something big to compete with the Avalanche.

Bart Karnes of Dallas Sports Nation reported on the potential trade targets for the Stars.
Although the Stars are clearly the league's second-best team, the Avalanche hold the edge midway through the season, yet a player like Alex Tuch could swing momentum in Dallas' favour.
"Not only would Tuch provide additional goal scoring to a team that's offense has dried up in the western conference finals the last three years, he also likes to throw hits. Dallas, and everybody else are always looking for more of that offensive, and defensive stat from their guys in the war of attrition known as the Stanley Cup playoffs." -Karnes

The Sabres haven't had much hope this season, or really since their core was built. A trade could happen if they receive enough future assets to make it worthwhile. The same applies to the Vancouver Canucks with Sherwood and the Calgary Flames with Kadri.
"Another guy who's team will not be one of the last 16 teams standing this spring. The Vancouver Canucks aren't that far out of a wildcard spot, but given all the calls for Sherwood, and their former captain Quinn Hughes being traded to the Minnesota Wild, the Canucks will likely benefit going into a rebuild mode and building around newly acquired Zeev Buium." -Karnes

Everyone knows what Kadri can bring to a contender, his impact with the Avalanche in 2022 proved it. If he ends up facing them in the playoffs, he could come back to haunt them, which seems very likely. The Avalanche will need to stay vigilant and keep a close eye on their competition.
