The Colorado Avalanche are head and shoulders above the rest of the NHL, but their power play hasn't reflected that so far this season. Gabriel Landeskog is leaning on an old 2022 motto.

The 2022 Stanley Cup was centered around this "find a way" motto, and it shows Landeskog's strong leadership skills with the team.

Landeskog is bringing that 2022 feeling back.

Ryan O'Hara of The Hockey News reported on the ongoing struggles with the Avalanche power play.
No one in the locker room is panicking. They know they have the players to figure it out, it's just about finding the right setup, building confidence through creating chances, and putting pucks in the back of the net.
"And yet, there's still room for improvement. The power play remains the one area of this team that could use a reset. But it's early in the season, and the Avalanche are dominant enough right now that it makes sense for them to experiment with a few ideas." -O'Hara

Landeskog has been around long enough to know that some things just take time to develop, and the power play is one of them. His calm presence shows what a strong leader he is, and the only path forward is to find a way to make it work on the man advantage.
"It's early on in the season; we're working on a few things and trying a couple different looks. It's one of the things when it's not working, it's easy to start overthinking it, start pointing fingers, try to re-invent the wheel, but at the end of the day, sometimes you just got to stick with it.

Sometimes there are tweaks to be made we make them no problem, but I think the power play is kind of the same as the rest of our game as we continue to work on it; we're going to find ways (to succeed), and I'm not worried about it." -Landeskog

There's little doubt the Avalanche will figure out their power play issues. When they do, they could challenge the 2023 Boston Bruins for the best regular season of all time, and, hopefully, unlike the Bruins, get the job done in the playoffs.
