The Colorado Avalanche edged out Central Division rivals Utah Mammoth 1-0, with Sam Girard scoring the lone goal and standout goaltending from Scott Wedgewood and Vitek Vanecek.

The Avalanche continue to win games. Even without their best effort, they find ways to capture 2 points and that's what matters most.

Avalanche continue their winning ways against the Mammoth.

Chase Beardsley from The Hockey Writers reported on the goaltending battle that was had in Denver between Wedgewood and Vanecek.
After another stellar performance from Wedgewood, it's clear he deserves to be one of Team Canada's goalies heading to Italy for the Olympics.
"Team Canada likes Jordan Binnington a lot. He did help win them the 4-Nations tournament last season. Despite his struggles this season, he'll more than likely go overseas. Same to Logan Thompson. Team Canada has probably learned from their mistakes from last year and will bring Thompson due to his great play with the Washington Capitals in the past handful of years. That leaves one spot open, and it should honestly go to Wedgewood. After that game against the Mammoth, he deserves it. He's arguably playing the best out of any Canadian goaltender currently." -Beardsley

The game had few thrills, with only a handful of odd-man rushes producing no results. The key takeaway: the Avalanche can win in any scenario.
Whether it's an all-out offensive shootout or a tight defensive battle, their adaptability and depth make them a dangerous team.
"Speaking of keeping the Avalanche contained to a single goal, they and the Mammoth have now played three straight games where the victor won by a single goal. Sure, for the Avalanche, they don't really care. They have the most wins in the NHL. However, for the Mammoth, it shows they're playing a pretty solid game. Not every team that comes into Ball Arena keeps the game within one goal. The Mammoth have now done that twice this season." -Beardsley

The Avalanche now shift their focus to the Vegas Golden Knights on December 27. After some much-needed rest, they'll aim to continue their dominant play against a tough opponent.
