The Colorado Avalanche are pushing a goal pace that echoes the firepower of their 2021-22 championship season and hints at something even bigger this year. Their attack feels heavier, faster, and more relentless than many expected in October.

Back in 2021-22, Colorado stacked 308 goals across the schedule, a number that still stands as one of the most explosive outputs in franchise history. That team rode waves of offense from veterans and rising stars while finishing with 56 wins on the way to a Stanley Cup.

Avalanche tease massive milestone they haven't reached since their 2022 Cup run.

Graham Tiedtke from Mile High Sticking recently argued that this year's group is flirting with an even higher level, projecting them beyond 330 goals if their scoring rate holds steady.
That projection comes from Colorado's early run of four-plus goals per night, a pace few teams can mimic for long. Nathan MacKinnon, drafted first overall in 2013 and now in his early thirties, continues to drive play with the same edge that defined his 88-point rush that championship year. Mikko Rantanen, a 2015 first-round pick and still in his prime, keeps hammering pucks from the circles with a calm presence that lifts pressure off the depth.
Valeri Nichushkin, who was drafted tenth overall by Dallas in 2013, has been one of the biggest tone-setters so far. His net-front strength keeps defenses tied up and opens seams Colorado often turns into quick strikes. Logan O'Connor, now in his late twenties, adds another gear with transition pressure that helps Colorado win races to loose pucks. Their combined contributions are a major reason analysts believe the Avalanche are not propped up by stars alone.
Fans feel that blend of skill and urgency, and that sentiment has turned into growing belief that this team might truly outscore its 2021-22 version. The balance across the lineup brings stability on nights when the top line faces tighter coverage.
Regression always lurks during a long season, and any dip in finishing could slow the march toward history. Still, if Colorado keeps converting slot chances and pushing quick exits through the neutral zone, the math favors a legitimate chase.
The next stretch will reveal whether this offense settles or surges, but right now the Avalanche look ready to chase a scoring mark that once felt unreachable.
