In what could be one of the most competitive divisions in NHL history, the Central Division race is wide open. The league's three top teams, the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild, are all battling for first place, and Martin Nečas is ready for it.

Necas seems to be the final piece of the puzzle the Avalanche needed on their first line.

Martin Necas brings the Avalanche to another level.

Samuel Len of Breakaway On SI reported on the tough test the Avalanche have ahead of them.
Necas has undoubtedly made things easier. His addition has made the Avalanche even faster, and when Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Nečas are on the ice together, keeping up becomes a serious challenge.
"A huge reason for Colorado's success is the pace they play with. When Nathan MacKinnon, Martin Nečas, and Cale Makar share the ice, the game tilts quickly - shifts get shorter for opponents, mistakes multiply, and coverage breaks down as defenders struggle to keep up with the Avs." -Len

With the Wild acquiring Quinn Hughes, the Avalanche's skating advantage becomes even more important. While Hughes is focused on containing Nathan MacKinnon, the other two can exploit space and blow past defenders to make plays. Regardless, it presents a tougher challenge, one Necas is excited to embrace.
"Definitely a crazy one, and I think it was kind of expected. There were a lot of rumours that he might be gone, and it's the way it worked out. Obviously, for a team in our division, it's going to make our division even better. I think it's good-there are going to be even better matches against them, and I'm excited." -Necas

Necas has put together an incredible season so far, and he's doing far more than riding Nathan MacKinnon's coattails. He's driving play and creating his own chances, climbing to fourth in the NHL in scoring. With the Central Division adding another superstar, the Avalanche will need that impact more than ever.
