It promises to be an exciting Friday night of hockey as the Colorado Avalanche take on the Minnesota Wild. With stars like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Kirill Kaprizov, and Martin Necas in the mix, fireworks are guaranteed.

Both teams are in the midst of lengthy winnings streaks with the Avalanche at 10 and the Wild at 6.

Avalanche and Wild set to faceoff in highly anticipated Central Division clash.

Jackie Kay of Mile High Hockey covered the pregame report of the two Central Division juggernauts.
The Wild started the season slow but are now firing on all cylinders. As the Avalanche chase history, the Wild are set to be their toughest test yet.
"Not only have the Avalanche won 10 games in row they are now riding a three-game shutout streak. It's not a question of who will hand Colorado their second regulation loss on the season but who is going to score a goal on this team?" -Kay

The Wild are also showcasing impressive goaltending, as Swedish phenom Jesper Wallstedt is proving his NHL caliber.
The 22-year-old rookie boasts a 6-0-2 record, a 1.94 GAA, and a .935 save percentage. With two other young defensive stars, the Wild are shaping up to be a strong team for years to come.
"The Wild defensive core is led by two young guns in 22-year-old Brock Faber and 19-year-old rookie Zeev Buium. They are also contributing with 15 and 11 points respectively. What makes the Wild dangerous is they have young impact talent all over the lineup including in net." -Kay

It will be interesting to see how those two defensemen handle the league's fastest team, led by MacKinnon, Necas, and Artturi Lehkonen. Their speed has been a nightmare for every opposing defense, and this afternoon will show if that continues.
